A Short Introduction...
Hello readers!
Let’s face it; we’re in the shit.
The planet is just not looking good. This is evident with the sad estimation
that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. Gross! Blue
Planet will just not be the same – “Oh look it’s... PLASTIC!” With China now
also refusing to take the worlds recycling, we really do need to do something.
We just continue to consume while there are just piles and piles and piles and
piles (you get the point) of rubbish.
After studying
philosophy at university (which makes you question EVERYTHING) and watching the
documentaries ‘Cowspiracy’ and ‘The True Cost’, I’ve become more aware of how
the environment is being destroyed and how unethical certain companies are. It
seems that companies should have the responsibility of providing us with
produce that is environmentally friendly and ethical, but sadly most don’t.
However, there are loads of companies out there which are eco-friendly and
ethical - I want to start using these companies to add to the demand. By
creating a demand for ethical and environmentally friendly products, I believe
it can improve the situation.
So this is just a random project I
wanted to try about sustainable products and ideas. I’m always conscious of the
waste I produce and I feel guilty, yet I do nothing about it! So hopefully
writing this blog will force me to try and be more sustainable in my everyday
life. Sustainability is about creating less waste and finding ways to be
more environmentally friendly. I want to show the alternative products we can
buy and what alternative things we can do that are less damaging to the
environment. Hopefully this blog will make you think about what you’re buying
and using.
I hope you enjoy the blogs to come
and thanks for reading!
